13oz Selvedge Denim.

It is no secret that we love denim. A quintessential workwear fabric that is rugged enough for daily use and looks even better the more you wear it - what is there not to like! For a little while, we've been working with one of our favourite denim makers in Portugal, a factory we have been working with since 2011 to make three styles, a Universal Works classic: the 'Military Chino', our take on a classic archival piece, the 'Trucker Jacket', and a brand new style, the 'Duke Pant'.

 

Made in a vintage style from 13oz narrow loom red selvedge denim, this fabric goes through a slow process similar to American made denim from the previous century. It features a 3/1 twill weave with an indigo-dyed yarn over undyed natural yarn, creating a rigid texture that will soften with wear and use. When washed, the garment will stretch to the wearer's shape. Over time the fabric will develop a unique patina and age beautifully with every wear.

This season we’re bringing it to you in denim. It’s features? Two welt pockets cut into the back of the chino and top-stitched with a contrast gold thread.
