Our latest series sees us sharing stories from our international community kingpins by spotlighting the people living, working and doing good things in the vicinity of our stores and stockists. As we like to say; it’s all about  Good People and Good Places.

We're taking a walk around the neighbourhood with Luca Quartarone, a budding young DJ and music producer with big plans for the future. His instagram handle may read “@boringtables”, but from what we’ve heard his life is anything but.

Ask someone to list their hobbies and interests and philosophy, ambient/electronic music and darts might not be your everyday combo, but it seems to be working out alright for Luca. When he’s not studying or promoting gigs in-between lectures, he’s either on the decks at the likes of Fischio and Paris Oracle or he’s playing competitive darts at his local drinking hole. And despite being a Roman by birth, as we chatted over our sixteenth espresso of the day he reeled off an impressive list of international locations including the likes of Hidden Sounds in London, Soup in Manchester and The Lot Radio   NYC, to name but a few.

When we asked him how he became a fan of Paris Oracle he replied: “It’s one of the best stores in town, I’ve been buying Universal Works for five years, for a while it felt like Paris was one of the few places you could buy this brand, obviously it’s grown since then which is great, but I still like to come back to see Stefano, he’s such a great guy.”

Rizhome Radio, set up by Luca and his business partner Claudio Maura in December 2022, is an emerging station that’s currently in the pre-permanent residency phase; in it’s current form it exists digitally and in frequent pop-ups across Rome (and beyond). As the conversation develops it becomes clear that the ambition is to have a full time gaff (or two) in the not so distant future. It’d be fair to say that his vision is remarkably focused for someone at the start of their journey; the dream is to set up Rhizome outposts all over the world under a simple concept of round the clock live DJ-sets and a shop-able selection of records, magazines and dangerously covetable merch. And, to make matters even more upbeat , just as we were wrapping up he shared the love when he reached into his bag and gifted us some Rhizome branded vinyl covers and a fistful of logo stickers.

Nice one Luca!  Check out Rhizome Radio here, and more details on what Luca is wearing below.
