Last week we shut up shop at UWHQ (apart from Allan on the web store) and headed south to the capital to present at London Collections Men.

We presented our SS16 collection in the grand setting of St Georges Church, Bloomsbury, teaming up with the talented stop motion animator and graphic designer Allan Buxton, to create an immersive film and installation experience to show off the designs we’ve been working on for the past few months.

The Presentation consisted of an animated film, projected life-size onto a nine-meter long screen, with the reverse set up as the “backstage” of the crazy magical catwalk happening on the other side. Models waiting in line to walk, along with props from the film, clothing rails, outfit notes and storyboards pinned up on the wall.

The stop motion film ‘not another catwalk’ is our take on the regular catwalk including slick moves, comedy moments and a rogue giant fan that is set on disrupting proceedings.

The stop-motion animation was shot by Allan Buxton and the Universal Works team over 10 days, with over a hundred hours of editing. We pushed the limits of what we could achieve in the short turn around time but we are ecstatic with the final result.

Big thank you to Allan and the models for all their hard work on the shoot and more, Ciaran for building and transporting the screen and always keeping everyone calm, and all the UW team for making the project possible.

The full stop-motion animation will be online soon but for now, check out the video and images below that'll give you an idea of the setup and how it all went down on the day.
